Mission Statement

Anvil House delivers floating support and accommodation services to a diverse range of vulnerable people experiencing mental health issues. We aim to provide a fully inclusive service that is culturally sensitive and ‘needs-led’, where people can feel safe secure and empowered.

The ethos of the company is to have a recovery model focusing on the positive rather than the negative, to empower our clients to move to more independence.
Staff are highly trained, flexible and diverse and aim to deliver a high quality service.

Background/History

Anvil House is based in the north side of the city and is funded by Supporting People. Our business has run successfully for over 30 years.
We have continued to be at the forefront of supported accommodation provision for adults with enduring mental health.

We achieved a level ‘B’ from Supporting People for the quality of our service in 2006.
Investors in People in 2007 and renewed in April 2010
Accredited Common Standard for Racial Equality in 2008.
Awarded Positive about Disabled people in 2009
Dignity Champions.
In 2010, we successfully won a 3yr contract for floating support from Supporting People.

Services Provided

We offer a Floating Support service that provides housing related support to vulnerable adults to enable them to maintain their independence within their own home. All clients will have a support worker, and an individual tailor made support and risk management plan. This will be devised in partnership with the client and their support worker.
We offer support such as:
 

  • Set up and maintain  a home or tenancy
  • Managing finances and benefit claims
  • Developing independent living skills
  • Accessing external agencies
  • Helping to make sure the clients accommodation is safe and secure
  • Signposting to access training, education and employment
  • Signposting to help manage personal health and wellbeing
  • Signposting to access counselling and emotional support
  • Finding out about social events.

Our service is flexible and responsive to clients’ needs and is available: Mon - Sat 9 – 7pm, although can be available outside of these hours if there is a planned need. We also provide a 24hr telephone emergency contact service.
Anvil House provides a service that is culturally sensitive and committed to the values of diversity. To achieve this aim all staff will receive full training, and where possible we will endeavour to provide culturally specific support staff.

Other Services Provided

We also provide accommodation for clients, who are experiencing mental health issues .

Eligibility Criteria

Clients must have a mental health diagnosis and be in need of housing related support.

Clients must be willing to participate in a planned program of support.

Partner Organisations

We are part of the Strategic Network for Mental Health which is a unique alliance of four medium-sized organisations that have agreed to work as partners, share their experience and resources, and build on their common philosophy and purpose for the benefit of mental health service users across the country.
